About Breast Augmentation Surgery
Using his expertise in breast surgery, Dr. Wayne Lee will discuss and help guide you to choose the best option for you to help achieve your goals. Breast augmentation surgery is an option to women who may feel that their breast size is somewhat inadequate in proportion to their overall figure. This is especially true in thin, athletic women and any woman after pregnancy. Often, the most effective way to correct this condition is breast augmentation with either saline-filled or silicone gel-filled breast implants. Breast augmentation has become one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures in Tampa bay area as well as the United States. This surgery is one of the most popular surgeries performed by Dr. Lee and he caters each surgery to the individual.

Dr. Lee and his experienced staff will help you determine what implant size and shape you desire. Choices include saline or silicone, a wide variety of sizes, shape, texture or smooth, profile, and more. Both saline and silicone breast implants are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Day of Surgery
On the day of your surgery you will arrive to our private office-based surgery center and be greeted by our experienced surgical nurse. You will then be taken to your preoperative room and provided with a warm blanket. After consents are signed and vital signs are taken, our nurse will start your IV. Our personal nurse anesthetist will interview you regarding your past health and surgeries to determine what type of anesthesia will be best for you. For breast augmentation surgery, general anesthesia and ultrasound-guided nerve blocks are used. Ultrasound-guided regional and general nerve blocks are used to help provide an opioid-free/reduced anesthesia technique so that our patients go home with minimal pain and postoperative nausea. You will also see Dr. Lee on the morning of surgery prior to entering the operating room so you are able to discuss any extra expectations and ask any questions you may have.
The most common incision that is performed for a breast augmentation is the inframammary incision, which is hidden in the crease below the breast. The breast implant sizer is then placed within the breast. Dr. Lee along with his knowledgeable surgical team will help to determine which implant sizer size and shape looks best for you prior to selecting the final permanent implant. Prior to your surgery, Dr. Lee will determine if the use of the Keller Funnel™ will be used to insert your permanent breast implants. This device allows from a smaller incision, allows for easier insertion of the implant, and provides an increased protection against infection and capsular contracture using a “no-touch” technique.
After your surgery, your incisions will be dressed with water-proof and antimicrobial dressings, followed by a breast binder which you will wear for 4-6 weeks after surgery. Your nurse and nurse anesthetist will take you to your private recovery room and monitor you until you are comfortable to be discharged home. After surgery it is normal to feel some degree of discomfort, pressure, and fatigue. Medication for pain control and antibiotics will be provided for you. Dr. Lee conveniently schedules the majority of his surgeries on Thursdays and Fridays so you are able to rest over the weekend and miss a minimal amount of work. Dr. Lee and his staff will see you within the first few days after surgery to change your dressings and ensure you are well-healed.
